Dryers and washing machines were involved in one out of every 23 home structure fires reported to U.S. fire departments in 2003-2006. CMR Raleigh Air Duct Cleaners will clean your dryer vent and help protect your home or business from fire.
Washers and Dryer Fire Facts
- In 2006, an estimated 17,700 reported U.S. non-confined or confined home structure fires involving clothes dryers or washing machines resulted in 15 civilian deaths, 360 civilian injuries and $194 million in direct property damage.
- Clothes dryers accounted for 92% of the fires; washing machines 4%, and washer and dryer combinations accounted for 3%.
- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission estimates that in 1998, clothes dryers were associated with 15,600 fires, which resulted in 20 deaths and 370 injuries. Fires can occur when lint builds up in the dryer or in the exhaust duct. Lint can block the flow of air, cause excessive heat build-up, and result in a fire in some dryers.
Benefits of Dryer Vent Cleaning
Dryer vent cleaning prevents dryer fires, increases the appliance’s efficiency reducing your energy bills, extends the life of your clothes dryer and improves air quality in your home.
Dryer vent cleaning is recommended annually; it is the only solution to poor venting caused by lint build-up in the system. In some cases, dryer vent cleaning may need to be done more often.
