Mold in your air ducts and HVAC system can cause serious health concerns for both the young and old living in the Raleigh area. With the rain, we’ve seen in increase in reports of this hazard.
The past couple of months CMR air duct cleaning has been getting flooded with calls about mold, mildew smell, and moisture in the air ducts. Some of the signs of your duct work being contaminated is smell and visible microbial growth. Its common in our industry to see mold on registers of the duct work and also house furnishings surrounding the duct registers. The cause of this can be a few things.
Removing Mold from an HVAC System
The first thing we do is a complete inspection of the system to find the source of the problem. A lot of times it is inproper insulation, lack of ventilation or a problem with the HVAC unit. Once we find the source then we have to fix it. The last thing we want to do is clean out the air ducts and HVAC system and the source not be fixed. This will lead to the mold growing back with in a couple of weeks. Once we get the problem fixed the we start the mold remediation of the air ducts and unit. CMR air duct cleaning follows the strict standards of The National Air Duct Cleaners Association. We are members and follow there proven techniques and standard.
NADCA Duct and HVAC Cleaning Standards
The standard our company uses is called the direct source removal. This entails putting the HVAC unit under negative pressure and utilizing that with agitation tools to get the air ducts clean. A important step in this process is treating the system with a antimicrobial. The only way to insure the entire system is coated is to have the air ducts under negative pressure and induce the antimicrobial with a machine called a fogger. The fogger will take the liquid and break it down to a fog. Then between the positive pressure form the fogging machine and the negative pressure from the vacuum it will pull the antimicrobial through the air ducts. This may seem a little confusing. I encourage my readers to visit our site at http://raleigh-airductcleaning.com there you will find a video of our process.

Can You Tell Which Are Before and After Mold Removal?
It doesn’t take a trained eye to tell which of these duct pictures are before an after mold removal. At least, I don’t think so.
