The spring time has arrived and so has pollen. We get flooded with calls this time of year with customers with allergies. One of the questions we get is will air duct cleaning help with my allergies? Our answer is if your HVAC system has pollen and other contaminates in it, it sure wouldn’t hurt your situation.
All the air in your house is recycled through the HVAC system between 7 and 9 times a day. So, whatever is in the air in your house will soon make it to the air ducts. Every time a door is opened or a window is opened your letting pollen in the house and ultimately making its way to the HVAC system.
When we clean out the air ducts and HVAC units we do it under a vacuum. This will prevent the release of pollen or other contaminants in the house. Everything in the air ducts will be filtered through our machines that are located outside the home or business. We follow strict guidelines put out by the National Air Duct Cleaners Association to insure your HVAC system is cleaned properly.
After we clean the air duct and HVAC system we recommend changing out the return filters every 30 days. This is very important because all the air entering your system must pass through the filter. A dirty air filter will not only allow contaminants in your system but will also choke the system making it work harder. This will increase your energy consumption as well as shorten the life expectancy of your HVAC system. One thing that we recommend is dating your filters when you install them. That way you know when you installed them. Another thing I have heard my customers do is when the make their house payment or rent payment to change the filter out then.
